My life suddenly took a completely different course. Justin and I didn’t talk to each other anymore and pretended we never knew about the other’s existence. He would spend the breaks between classes with Kristen, after school he would go out with her, basically he spent all his free time trying to eat her tongue. And I… I would go out with my bestie, Matt and Taylor. Since Justin was spending his time with Kristen, Taylor “took his place”. You would expect things to be intense but it was just the opposite – we were having a lot of fun with Tay as a member of our group. But as much fun as it would be and as much as I would smile and laugh, I would still miss Justin.
Christmas was on its way and my bestie and I had come up with a great play for the Christmas Concert at school. Everything was happening at the speed of light and I couldn’t wait for Christmas to come. One of the best things to be performing in the concert, was that we were missing classes so we could rehearse. Not that we ever had a real rehearsal. What I mean is that almost every time we would change our lines and the guys who participated in the play, would not be there.
21st of December – the day of the Christmas Concert. I was nervous, excited and most of all, smiling widely, who knows why.
- Someone’s nervously happy! – Taylor screamed from behind me.
- Gosh, Taylor! Stop freaking me out like that! You’ll give me a heart attack.
- Don’t worry, it will go great. – he said and hugged me.
- It better go great! And you better not drop me. – the play ended with Taylor holding me up bridal style and taking me backstage and I didn’t want to end up with broken bones, though I trusted Taylor and his muscles.
- I would try not to, - he said as there was a possibility he would drop me so I punched him – okay okay! I won’t drop you, I promise.
It was almost time for our play and one of the guys was missing. GRR! What’s more, his brother wanted to go search for him and I couldn’t risk them both missing! I was freaking out…really freaking out on the inside, but on the outside I was trying really hard to stay calm. Eventually, everyone showed up JUST on time and we went on stage.
The whole thing went more than great! The audience laughed at almost every word we said. If I forgot to mention earlier, our play was more of a sketch. Anyways, I was so happy that the they were loving us that it was hard for me to stay in character but I managed to. After my bestie did her part and went backstage with two of the guys, it was time for Taylor to pick me up bridal style. He came over and as he started picking me up, the crowd went ow-ing, laughing, clapping their hands, everything positive you can think of! Taylor started walking backstage with me in his hands when I saw Justin in the audience and the most cruel idea came to my mind. I said to Taylor “Let Granny kiss you!” (I was playing an old grandma) and he did. I kissed his cheek and he then took me backstage.
Afterwards we went to change our clothes and join the audience to watch the rest of the show. Right after we did it, 3 girls went on stage to sing “All I Want For Christmas Is You”. My bestie and I loved the song so we started dancing, singing and laughing. As we were having fun, I accidently saw Justin. The girls on stage were now singing “All I want for Christmas is yoo-o-o-ou baby” and blah blah, when Justin looked at me, and I looked away. While the the girls were still singing the song I would pretend to be looking for someone in the crowd, just to see Justin starring at me. It was awkward, yet I loved it. Why was he starring at me? I wanted to look into his eyes so badly but couldn’t. Something was holding me back. Was I too shy to do it? Or what? And while I was trying to figure out what to do, the song was over. I finally had the courage to look at Justin…to see him kissing Kristen. GREAT!
I watched the rest of the show then went with Tay, Matt and Mousie to this café nearby to celebrate. But it seemed like the rest of the school had the same idea. Anyways, we found ourselves a table, sat and ordered. We were laughing loud and I was starting to forget about Justin, as guess who walked in the café! Justin and Kristen…hand in hand! I immediately crossed my fingers, praying they don’t see us but they did. Justin and Kristen were now walking towards us. JUST PEACHY!
- Yo, what’s up? Mind if we join you? – Justin greeted.
- No, man. Come sit! Where have you been, bro? – Matt greeted back.
- You know, hanging with my girl. So what ‘cha doing people? – seems like Justin was perfectly happy with Kristen. “Maybe he wasn’t looking at me at the concert and I was just imagining things,” I thought.
- Talking about the concert. My dolls did amazing! – I loved when Matt called us “his dolls”. He was like a brother to me.
- I absolutely agree. Congratulations, girls. – Kristen said, smiling widely, - Don’t you think they did amazing, Justy?
- Yeah, Justy. What do you think? – Mousie laughed her head off while calling him Justy.
- Don’t mess with me, mouse but yes, you two were incredible. – now he was totally looking at me and I was looking at him. SOMEONE PLEASE CUT THIS SCENE. Finally, I managed to break the stare and look away.
The rest of the time we spent in the café went like: guys talking to guys, girls talking to girls. Talking to Kristen was rather pleasant, to be honest. Don’t get me wrong – I don’t hate her. I actually like her and think she’s a really beautiful girl. What I disagree with is Justin using her to make me jealous. I’m not trying to sound “I’m a Barbie girl and guys love only me” but if we have to look at things realistic I’m right.
- I’ll be going, my big bro’s back in town and I should be home earlier. – Taylor said.
- Oh, wait then. I don’t want to be going home by myself. If you don’t mind, I… - but Taylor wouldn’t let me finish.
- Of course I don’t mind! Come on, I’ll walk you home.
- Bye. – Tay and I said to the others and started walking towards the door.
Of course, before we walked away I couldn’t miss seeing Justin’s look. I loved when he had “jealousy” written all over his face. Okay, maybe I’m exaggerating a little, but seriously, he WAS jealous.
